Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spied Testing Ahead of 2025 Launch

The Volkswagen Taigun is set to receive its first major update, with a facelifted version recently spotted on test. Much like the upcoming Skoda Kushaq facelift, the refreshed Taigun will feature revised styling at the front and rear, aligning it with Volkswagen’s latest global design language.

Mid-Life Update for the SUV

This facelift marks a mid-life upgrade for the Taigun, which has been on sale in India since 2021. The updates are primarily cosmetic, with reworked bumpers, new LED lighting signatures, and a sportier rear profile expected. Inside the cabin, Volkswagen is likely to introduce new trim finishes and a few added features, while retaining the overall dashboard layout.

No Mechanical Changes Expected

Under the hood, the Taigun will continue with its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. Both units will still be available with manual and automatic gearbox options. While a performance or hybrid variant has not been confirmed, a CNG-powered option could be considered later in the lifecycle.

What’s Next for the Taigun?

This facelift will likely be the only major update for the current generation. A completely new Taigun is expected in 2027, and it could spawn a three-row SUV derivative to rival Hyundai Alcazar and others. Volkswagen is also expected to expand its EV roadmap, which may include an electric SUV of a similar size in the next generation.

🚘 Bottom line: The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is a smart refresh aimed at keeping the midsize SUV competitive until its all-new replacement arrives in 2027.
