Lexus Sports Car Will Be Unveiled Together With The GR GT
  • Lexus will unveil the production version of the Sport Concept on December 4.
  • The GR GT supercar and its racing version will also debut at the same event.
  • The sports models are expected to be fitted with hybrid V8s in different tunes.

Toyota has shared a new teaser showing three “all-new sports models” that will premiere together on December 4. The lineup appears to include a Lexus sports car and the GR GT supercar in roadgoing and racing versions.

A New Lexus Sports Coupe

The automaker didn’t share any information about the models other than a single shadowy photo. On the left side we can see what looks like the production version of the Lexus Sport Concept from August, recognized from the two-door coupe stance and the futuristic taillights.

The concept that was also exhibited at the Japan Mobility Show on October looked nearly production ready, so we expect changes to be focused on minor details and a slightly toned-down interior. A closer look at the teaser reveals a textured rear glass, although we can’t see if the roof-mounted fans have been retained. It is also not clear if the production version will get the illuminated fin, Lexus lettering and F1-style brake light of the concept.

The yet-unnamed model was initially believed to be fully electric, but the latest reports suggest it will adopt a GR-sourced hybrid V8 setup with Lexus-specific tuning. The sports car is expected to hit the roads in 2026 serving as a replacement for the aging LC rather than the iconic LFA supercar.

A Supercar From Gazoo Racing

In the middle of the teaser sits the upcoming GR GT supercar that has also been confirmed for a December 4 debut on a recent TV commercial in Japan. This one has a longer hood, a more conventional rear glass, and unique full-width LED taillights.

We also get a glimpse of the interior that was revealed a few months ago featuring a large infotainment display, a row of physical controls, and two carbon fiber bucket seats.

Toyota has confirmed that the GR-branded model will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine as part of a self-charging hybrid setup. The ICE alone could generate around 800 horsepower, making it the most powerful offering of the entire Toyota portfolio and a worthy spiritual successor of the V10-powered Lexus LFA.

A Wild GT3 Racecar

The performance flagship of the expansive Gazoo Racing lineup is joined by a model with similar proportions but more aggressive aero, hinting at a motorsport derivative.

As seen in earlier spy shots and the camouflaged prototype that tackled Goodwood, the racecar boasts vented fenders, a fixed rear wing, side-mounted tailpipes, a more prominent diffuser, and a lowered stance. It is expected to compete in GT3 championships as a follow up to the Toyota GR GT3 concept from 2022.

The trio of sports models will be unveiled on December 4 via a live-streamed presentation. The company has confirmed that President Akio Toyoda and Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries will be the main speakers at the event.
