This Ferrari 12Cilindri Will Never Be Built Again, And You’ll Understand Why

This Ferrari 12Cilindri Will Never Be Built Again, And You’ll Understand Why
  • Ferrari made a one-off 12Cilindri with South Korean artists.
  • Matte Yoonseul paint blends green, violet, and blue tones.
  • Custom badges and shields have a translucent layered finish.

Some cars are built to perform, others to provoke. This one does both, unapologetically. Created through Ferrari’s Tailor Made programme, this one-off 12Cilindri is unlike anything else on the road. Developed in collaboration with four South Korean artists, it’s more vibrant than any other example and comes with an interior that’s every bit as flamboyant as the bodywork. Ferrari purists, consider this your warning.

The team of designers behind this special 12Cilindri set out to create a car meeting the vision of Cool Hunting, an independent publication focused on design, culture, and technology. With that in mind, the design team began by developing a bespoke paint finish for the V12-powered GT, named Yoonseul.

A Color That Refuses to Sit Still

This custom color draws on Korean tradition and features a matte texture that shifts subtly between green, violet, and blue. Artist Dahye Jeong also created unique Scuderia Ferrari shields, wheel caps, and badges with a translucent finish, adding an extra layer of depth to the bodywork.

There’s a color-shifting quality to the Yoonseul paint that brings to mind the rare, and pretty describable today, Mystichrome finish once used on the1996 and 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. That deep, shifting blue-violet tone used tiny prisms to catch and refract light, a technology originally developed as a security feature to deter counterfeit banknotes. Ferrari’s take feels more refined, but the lineage is fascinating.

Down the center of the the 12Cilindri runs a custom livery, created by a performance artist duo to visually interpret the sound of the V12 engine. It ends in a slightly darker version of the Yoonseul tone, tying the visual theme together without breaking the flow.

Tailored from the Roof to the Floor

There’s also no other Ferrari with an interior quite like this one. For example, it has a glass roof with a screen-printed intricate pattern by Jeong. There’s also a piece on the dashboard made from Mongolian horsehair, and special fabric across the seats and floor.

Consistent with the translucent exterior accents, the center tunnel incorporates matte-finish panels with subtle Yoonseul detailing, also seen on the door panels. White paddle shifters were created specifically for this build, echoing the white brake calipers on the exterior.

The powertrain is the same as any other 12Cilindri. This means it retains Ferrari’s flagship 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 with 818 hp and 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) of torque, making it an absolute beast to drive. However, given how much this one must have cost to commission, we’d be shocked if it gets driven frequently, if at all.
