You’ll Never See Three Bugatti Bolides Driving Like This Again

You’ll Never See Three Bugatti Bolides Driving Like This Again
  • Three ultra-rare versions of the Bugatti Veyron also attended the event.
  • Several classic Bugattis, including an EB110, were also driven in the snow.

Bugatti has built just 40 examples of its multi-million-dollar Bolide track car, yet despite its immense value, three Bolides were recently driven on a frozen lake in Switzerland, proving there are some Bugatti owners actually willing to drive their cars.

The trio of Bolides attended the recent The I.C.E. St. Moritz event in Switzerland, and each was driven across the snow and ice in a scene about as far removed from warm racetracks where the Bolide was honed as possible. One of the Bolides has an exposed carbon-fiber exterior, one features a range of blue and carbon accents, and the other combines a deep shade of red with black accents.

The Bolide was brought to life as the production-spec version of one of the craziest concept cars ever conceived by Bugatti. It’s the closest thing to a Le Mans racer that Bugatti has ever sold, capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.2 seconds and producing almost 3,000 kg of downforce at its 236 mph (380 km/h) top speed. Obviously, none of that downforce could be put to use on this ice track.

A trio of Bolides wasn’t the only Bugattis to attend the event. Also, there were three special Veyrons, including the bespoke Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Soleil de Nuit and the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Meo Costantini. Joining these two was also one of just three Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Rembrandt Bugatti models produced.

Bugatti Rimac chief executive Mate Rimac was also in attendance, bringing along a pair of Rimac Neveras, and even spending some time on the snow behind the wheel of a rare Bugatti EB110. Several classic Bugattis were also there, including a Type 13, Type 35, and Type 37A.

“Our discerning customers were hugely excited to be part of this wondrous event, and to drive their cars in such a spectacular environment – from the unprecedented Bolide showcase on the ice, to the elegant Veyron homage with graceful ice skaters,” Bugatti managing director Hendrik Malinowski said.
