Honda announced today that it will book roughly 2.5 trillion yen ($15.7 billion) in expenses and losses as it rethinks its electrification plans against a backdrop of cooling global EV demand. That headline number is striking on its own. But buried in the same disclosure is a detail that matters far more for buyers in the United States.
As part of that reassessment, Honda says it will “cancel the market launch and development of certain EV models that had been planned for production in North America”. According to reports from Japan, the decision sweeps up all three of the company’s upcoming EVs for the region.

That includes the Honda 0 Sedan and Honda 0 SUV, along with the Acura RSX. The last one stands out. Acura had already shown the RSX in pre-production form, and the model was schedule to arrive in showrooms later this year.
We have reached out to Honda for confirmation and will update this story when we hear back.
