Quad Lock – Action Camera Adaptors and Suction Base Review by @beastbobber
Quad Lock started its origin as a phone mounting system for bicycles. The founders liked travelling and discovered there was no real set up they felt comfortable to take their phones with them. They’ve since expanded and branched into motorcycles, cars and other vehicles. I am an avid user of Quad Lock and using their mounting systems for the handlebars of my motorcycle, I’ve used several mounts across various bikes with zero issues. Once you have had your phone on the bars of a Harley Sportster 48, bouncing in and out of our typical UK potholes with no issues, you know the phone is not going anywhere!
Quad Lock are now expanding their accessories, utilising most of the unique locking system, to delve into the action camera world. As a biker who enjoys filming my rides, I regularly ride with an action camera, and I think these new accessories are pure genius from the company. These new items include an action camera adaptor and action camera to Quad Lock adaptor. Both of these are two unique ways of mounting your action cameras to the original Quad Lock mounts, meaning not only can you mount your phone, but you now use the same mount for different filming viewpoints. If you can trust your phone with it, you can trust your action camera. I tested these out by attaching my camera to my handlebars, meaning I could get a different filming angle whether I filmed the road ahead or turned the camera on myself and got footage of myself riding. They are quick, super easy to set up and a clever bit of kit that gives a creative creator more tools to work with.
As well as the action camera mounts, they have also created a suction base system which utilises the action mounts, meaning with the right surface you can mount a camera or the generic phone mount anywhere. I trialled this by using it on my motorcycle tank. It stuck, I got some footage from really cool angles, but I definitely was nervous and could not stop glancing down to check my camera was still there when I had the mount off the side of the tank. I did have an incident when taking photos of this set up, the mount did fall off. I will note that Quad Lock themselves do not recommend using the suction base on motorcycles, scooters, ATV’s or anything that causes high vibrations. I am still quite impressed and when using flat appropriate surfaces, it really does not feel like it will go anywhere.
As always, Quad Lock continues to impress me. Their innovative and creative design, expanding on their system with clever and useful accessories, mean that they are getting the most out of their product. The expanding range are not only useful but very practical for day-to-day life, not just ‘content creators’ or for creative purposes. I for one cannot wait to keep seeing what Quad Lock produce and know that these products are already a go to for my daily riding.
