A BMW Superbike A Matching M2 Coupe, Only 10 Of Each Will Be Made

A BMW Superbike Now Has A Matching M2 Coupe, And Only 10 Of Each Will Be Made

  • Production of the M2 Coupe RR Edition will be capped at just 10 units.
  • BMW has also launched limited-run S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR models.
  • Both the car and the motorcycle feature custom Akrapovic exhausts.

BMW produces some of the planet’s finest sports cars and superbikes, yet it’s rare for the firm’s car and motorcycle divisions to work together. However, they’ve just collaborated to create special edition versions of the M2 Coupe and the S 1000 RR/M 1000 RR, available exclusively in South Africa.

Starting with the new M2, it’s dubbed the RR Edition and comes exclusively in Black Sapphire Metallic. BMW has fitted it with M Performance suspension to drop the ride height by 20 mm (0.8 inches), and also fitted it with Jet Black M Performance wheels, measuring 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear.

The sports car also comes equipped with a new front splitter with a red insert, while at the rear is a new diffuser. Moreover, BMW has added a subtle roof spoiler and a fixed rear wing with a red stripe. We’re not convinced that a wing like this works on the M2, but there’s no denying it makes it look even more striking than the standard setup.

The upgrades don’t stop there. BMW has fitted an Akrapovic exhaust, a sunroof, and clad the seats with black and red upholstery. Production of the model will be capped at just 10 units, five of which will be sold with a six-speed manual while the others will get the eight-speed automatic. Prices have yet to be confirmed.

Motorbikes To Match

As for the bikes, the first is the S 1000 RR M2 Edition, painted in Black Storm Metallic with red accents on the front fairings and passenger seat cover. Red accents have also been added to the wheels, and it includes a tinted windshield. The more extreme M 1000 RR also features Black Storm Metallic paint, and its standard carbon-fiber wheels have red trim. An Akrapovic exhaust has also been fitted to both.

Like the M2, just 10 examples of the special S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR models will be built. The cheaper of the two will cost 406,950 rand ($24,600), while the M 1000 RR will cost a staggering 882,100 rand ($53,400).
