Midsize pickups are on the rise everywhere, and Mahindra wants a piece of the popular segment. The Indian automaker dropped an official teaser ahead of an August 14 debut, giving away pieces of the exterior and interior of a truck it hasn’t named yet.

The truck is the production version of the Global Pik Up concept revealed exactly three years ago. It seems to keep the double-cab silhouette and rising character line of the concept, though the details have moved on. The teaser shows new headlights and taillights with sharp LED graphics, plus the Mahindra lettering across the tailgate.
A Cabin That Looks Very Familiar

Inside, the dashboard clearly takes cues from the Ford Ranger, with a large portrait infotainment screen sitting between the climate vents. You can also spot physical controls on the center console and the steering wheel, a rotating dial, and a digital instrument cluster. Odds are Mahindra will fit the truck with the 540-degree camera system from the recently updated Scorpio-N, along with a Level 2 ADAS suite on higher trims.

Beneath the sheetmetal sits a new ladder-frame architecture, thought to be a stretched version of the Scorpio-N chassis with reinforcements for a heavier payload. Powertrain options will probably carry over from the SUV, including a non-electrified 2.2-liter turbodiesel mated to a manual or automatic gearbox and a 4WD system.
Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept
Autocar India estimates the new Mahindra truck will cost between ₹18.00-23.00 Lakh ($18,800-24,100) in India, serving as a far more affordable alternative to the Toyota Hilux which starts at ₹31.99 lakh ($33,600) in the same market. Still, it will definitely be more expensive than the utilitarian Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up, currently priced from as low as ₹9.35 Lakh ($9,800).
Beyond India, Mahindra plans to export its new midsize pickup to various global markets. The rest of the details land at the official debut on August 14.
