This Porsche Tuner’s Singer Rival Was 17 Years In The Making

This Porsche Tuner’s Singer Rival Was 17 Years In The Making
  • German tuning house TechArt’s new GTclassic is a Singer-style backdated 911.
  • It’s based on the 964 coupe and gets an air-cooled, 375 hp, 3.8-liter flat six.
  • A twin-vent frunk lid, ducktail rear wing and 18-inch forged wheels are standard.

Seventeen years have now passed since Singer was founded in 2009. To put some context to that, the 964-generation 911 Singer based its builds on had only been off sale 15 years at the time. But only now, in 2026, with the Porsche market flooded with backdated 964s, has TechArt jumped on the trend.

And that may seem kind of strange, because TechArt has been in business since 1987, though until now it’s always focused on contemporary Porsches, including the Stuttgart brand’s SUVs. But the restomod scene is obviously hugely lucrative, judging by the number of competitors, and the result is the GTclassic.

You get the longer hood fitted to Porsches before the chunky 5 mph (8 kmh) impact bumpers arrived in 1974, though here they feature two mesh-covered vents to give a kind of GT3 flavor. The turn signals and outer vents below each fender are combined into one single unit and the LED headlights give drivers the kind of night vision owners of unmodified classic 911s would need military night vision goggles to replicate.

A ducktail spoiler – again with two vents – crowns the rear deck lid, and the rear taillights also get an LED makeover. Wider fenders house 18-inch forged wheels that measure 10-inches wides at the back, and their see-through mock spokes (the black sections are really the spokes) give a view of the Turbo braking setup.

Motive power comes from a 375 hp (380 PS), 3.8-liter flat six. And since this is a 964, it relies on air, not water for its cooling. TechArt doesn’t go into more details, though we can see that its demo car has a manual transmission. But we’re sure that, like Singer does, it will build a Tiptronic automatic car for an insistent customer. It just won’t shout about it.

A Matter Of Taste

Inside, well, that’s the bit that looks most TechArt-y to us, and probably the least appealing. Maybe it’s just that the red looks kind of tacky, and I’m not 100 percent sold on the champagne color trim in their either, though it doesn’t look bad on the outside. But these cars are built to order, so there’s no reason a customer with a fat enough wallet could’t end up with something a little more tasteful.

Twin Hanhart stopwatches provide the vintage vibes, while Apple CarPlay, navigation, and Bluetooth – plus the 964’s ABS and power steering – should make it as usable a a modern car.

Not that most owners will used theirs every day. TechCart hasn’t revealed a price, but if the GTclassic is priced to match other 964 restomods out there, you’re probably looking at close to a million bucks.
