Toyota and Daihatsu have rolled out model year updates for their co-developed Roomy and Thor minivans in Japan, including upgraded safety features, more standard equipment, and new colors.
The twin models measure 3,700 mm (145.7 in) long and are positioned in the subcompact segment right above kei-sized wagons. They were originally introduced in 2016 and received a facelift in 2020. The 2026 update doesn’t bring any changes to the exterior design, which is still available in two variations with a different face depending on the trim level.

Still, the color palette has been expanded with the addition of Yellowish Black Crystal Mica, Cool Violet Crystal Shine, Grayish Olive Metallic, and Shining White Pearl shades, optionally combined with a black roof and pillars.

Daihatsu Thor
The dashboard layout and the spacious two-row cabin are also carried over from the existing Toyota Roomy and Daihatsu Thor, as with the modular seats that fold into beds. However, the analog instrument cluster gains a new digital screen between the dials for a more modern appearance.

Furthermore, the standard equipment has been improved. The entry-level variants gain a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a central armrest, two extra parking sensors on the rear corners, side airbags for the driver and front passenger, as well as curtain shield airbags for both rows.
More importantly, the Smart Assist suite has been upgraded across all variants following the example of other models such as the Daihatsu Mira e:S, Taft, Move, and Move Canvas.

The safety kit now includes a new Crossing Cyclist Detection function, improved detection for oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning at intersections, greater accuracy for the adaptive cruise control, and a higher maximum operating speed threshold for pedestrian detection.

There are no changes under the hood, with a non-electrified 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 68 hp (51 kW / 69 PS) in naturally-aspirated form and 97 hp (72 kW / 98 PS) in turbocharged flavor. Power is sent to the front or to all four wheels via a CVT.
The updated Toyota Roomy is already available in Japan priced from ¥1,830,400 ($11,500) for the base X 2WD model and climbing to ¥2,346,300 ($14,700) for the Custom G 4WD. The Daihatsu Thor has identical pricing with its Toyota twin.
