A New Ford Bronco Has Nothing On A 1969 Model Like This

A New Ford Bronco Has Nothing On A 1969 Model Like This
  • This classic two-door Bronco has been overhauled with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
  • The off-roader also sports upgraded suspension and braking components.
  • Complementing the new engine are upgraded bumpers and a customized interior.

Ford’s decision to revive the Bronco was genius. Not only did it bring back one of the company’s most beloved nameplates, but it also finally gave the Jeep Wrangler a serious rival. In Raptor guise, the Bronco is one of the best off-roaders on sale. However, is it as cool as a classic restomod like this? We’re not so sure.

There’s no shortage of upgraded and modernized Ford Broncos out there, but this one ticks pretty much every box. For starters, it’s powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with a custom air intake and exhaust, giving it two extra cylinders over a Bronco Raptor.

Beyond the new engine, the Bronco’s exterior has been restored with a simple shade of green paint and a white roof. It also rocks chrome front and rear bumpers, sits on aluminum beadlock wheels with all-terrain tires, and benefits from a lift kit. Mecum Auction is selling it later this month, and while we don’t have full details about the chassis and suspension changes made, we can see new shocks and control arms.

Off-roading traditionalists should also love the cabin of this Bronco. Whereas the current Bronco is loaded with all the screens and technologies you’d expect of a modern car, this 1969 one is incredibly simplistic. The dashboard is almost completely bare, only featuring a small screen in the center and several classic toggles. The three-spoke, wood-rimmed steering wheel is also a highlight, as is the green across the dashboard and door panels, matching the exterior paint.

A full roll cage has also been subtly incorporated into the cabin, and new black seats have been fitted. While we’d be shocked to see the next owner of this restomodded Bronco doing any serious off-roading with it, it would be right at home cruising along the beach or down Sunset Boulevard.
