This One-Off Lamborghini LM002 Wagon Is The Real Urus Origin Story

Sultan of Brunei had this LM002 custom-built into a one-off wagon by coachbuilder Diomante. Later owned by former-BMW and VW chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder, it now lives in Sweden. Powered by a Countach V12 and stuffed with ’80s limo-style luxury, it’s basically a proto-Urus. If you thought the Urus owed its existence to Lamborghini’s wild LM002 , think again. The pickup-bed “Rambo Lambo” might be the official factory-produced dad, but this one-off LM002 wagon is arguably the real ancestor. Built in 1986 and originally delivered to the Sultan of Brunei (naturally…), chassis KLA12162 wasn’t wild enough, or practical enough, in stock form. So in 1989, the royals called up Italian coachbuilding wizard Salvatore Diomante to transform the LM002 into a limousine-style wagon.
